I'm back! And I just got done reading my f-list to catch up on what happened in the last week. I didn't leave any comments, but I did read what everyone wrote.
The trip to Oklahoma City went well. I have loads I could write about, but I have to write about the wonderful world of air travel. In short, it took me 2+ days to get from my home to OKC. It started Sunday morning at 9:15 am when we were informed that "something" (nobody knew what) was going on in OKC, so there were no flights in that day. But we could go to Denver (via Philadelphia), spend the night, and be in OKC by lunch the next day. So we checked the bags to Denver, and got on the plane to Pittsburgh. Our flight from Pittsburgh to Philly then got delayed, but we looked to be ok to make the flight. Then we sat on the runway for an hour and a half. We flew to Philly, of course, we missed the flight to Denver. The "nice" lady at US Air said the next flight she could get us on was on Tuesday. I don't think so. So we criss-crossed the airport, and got on a United flight that flew out on Monday. We then stood in line for 2.5 hours so US Air would transfer the ticket. Then tried to find our luggage. The only response we could get was "file a lost baggage claim when you get to OKC." Even though they knew 24 hours in advance to forward the baggage on. We finally got to a hotel, sans baggage, at midnight. At least I was smart and packed a clean outfit and all my toiletries in my carry on. :)
On Monday we started the whole thing over again, waiting an hour to check in at the airport, then trying again to locate our luggage, with no luck. We flew into Denver with no problems, but our flight from Denver to OKC was delayed. We got into OKC at midnight. Then we had to get the car. And file a missing baggage claim. And drive to the hotel. I got into my room at 1:30 am Tuesday morning. We had to be at work at 7:15 the next day. Ick. But I at least had clean clothes to wear to class, which is more than my partner did.
Our luggage showed up at 10:00 pm Tuesday night.
Coming home Saturday, we were doing good, until our flight from Chicago got delayed for almost 2 hours. We made into Pittsburgh in time to miss the connection home. Yay. So the nice lady had our bags sent to baggage claim, (why they couldn't do that in Philly on Sunday, I'll never know), and we rented a car and I had to drive home.
It's nice to be home!
